The app helped me a lot as I didn't have a lot of experience learned the barbell movements with it through guided videos, my weights were increased automatically by its coach function and I was guided through every single workout. I couldn't have achieved what I did without it. ***UPDATE ON STARTING LIFTING NUMBERS*** I haven't actually done real 1RM tests in the beginning. These are just estimations based on the weights I trained with. I found a 1RM calculator online that said that it's pretty accurate up to 10 reps so I used its estimations. If I had known the technique better and if I had been able to push myself harder, I probably could have handled more weight but I was afraid to do the movements wrong and I found it kind of scary to use weights I am not sure I can handle - especially when it comes to bench press and squats. ***UPDATE ON NUTRITION*** I followed a very strict diet and without that, it would just not have been possible to change as drastically as I did. In general: I’m a pescetarian, that means, I don’t eat meat except for fish. I started with the Freeletics Nutrition Guide and applied the knowledge in a way that worked best for me. I will try to break it down to a few simple steps: 1) The key is finding what works best for you and then sticking to it: The first couple of weeks I only focussed on gaining weight as that has been my biggest struggle so far. High protein and high carb diet. Lot’s of fish and seafood. My calorie intake was up to about 4000kcal/day. After a while I realized that was too much as I was gaining fat as well and went down to a high protein moderate carb diet with a little more than 3000kcal which worked way better for me. My body developed the way I wanted it to and my performance went through the roof.. 2) No alcohol, no added sugar, no processed food at all. Real foods - that’s what is the basis for everyone. Don’t eat stuff you can’t pronounce. Just don’t do it. 3) It helps to track your calories and weigh your food. You need to know what you are eating as well as how much of it. It’s the same as for training: Doing the right exercises is the first step, programming it is the second. That's why the Freeletics Gym Coach worked for me. 4) Schedule your meals according to your day. Your body needs to be fueled with the right nutrients throughout the day and has special needs at certain times, i.e. I always ate a banana and drank a protein shake directly (15mins max) after training as the body needs carbs and proteins to regenerate and refuel. I also precooked my food for the whole day every morning. 5) Supplements: I took 5g of creatine and a protein shake right after each training. Even home gym equipment like treadmills are not the right thing to use because they are inconvenient, so people don't use them every day once they buy them for many reasons like you have to lock yourself away in a room and the same exercise over and over for hours is boring. She is totally right when she explains that dancing is the best exercise. How ever many can not dance, they have no rhythm, and it is seen not to be a macho man thing to do. Many get the impression that you can only exercise with machines, this is what the media tells us so they can sell more machines. These machines are mostly made in China. So the Chineese factories run by people with the lowest obesity rate in the world, ( that they would never buy and use them self) are making machines to sell to English speaking countries of the world. Because there is a higher percentage of overweight and obese people in English speaking countries then anywhere else in the world. So they build machines that they do not use to sell to us that to get like them. We love being sold stuff that does not work, over and over and over again. Cancel you gym membership if you don't use it and stop looking like a fool to the gym owner as you renew over and over again and don't achieve anything. Get a refund if they don't provide results they promise. Ellen, dances every day on her show. If every one danced every day for 1/2 an hour or more their health will improve and its the best exercise for weight loss. Any age, any weight, and do it at home behind close doors if you feel a bit silly. Dancing is the best weight loss exercise in the world and the most effective for weight loss at 600 calories per hour. its free and you don't need special cloths or shoes. "Why would we come here and work out?" the students asked. "The equipment's no good, so we won't get results even if we go." Major Dorman, a coach at the public charter military school in Anderson, Indiana, couldn't refute their argument without being a hypocrite: He had been working out at a local commercial gym in town for the very same reason. "I realized that if I was going to try and be a salesman for what we have here, I had to be our number one customer, too," he says. So Dorman cancelled his gym membership and started training at the school's facility. Dorman knows that when it comes to playing sports, strength and conditioning can be the great equalizer, helping to make up for a lack of size or talent. Growing up, he played sports even though he was smaller than most kids his age. During his freshman year in high school, his coach pulled him aside and asked him not to play; he was so small that they feared for his safety. That prompted Dorman to start training, and his body responded by growing bigger and stronger. He learned an important lesson, too. Dorman wanted to transfer that feeling of empowerment to his own students. Yet that subpar gym was an obstacle to competing with other schools that had better facilities. A patchwork of old and new equipment included handmade pieces to mismatched bumper plates. Old kegs filled with sand or water were scattered around, a DIY attempt at training with imbalanced loading. Enter Bodybuilding.com's nonprofit organization, Lift Life. The goal: to transform the rough-hewn gym at Anderson Prep into a facility worthy of its student athletes. Out went slippery flooring; in came turf for pushing sleds. In all, 130,000 pounds of new equipment was hauled into the gym over two weeks. The end result embodies Bodybuilding.com's "We Change Lives" slogan. This is the third weight room transformation led by the Lift Life foundation—the first was in Firth, Idaho, and the second was in Knoxville, Tennessee —but it's definitely not the last. We're already hard at work for our fourth project in Livingston, Montana.
